Each match is a fast-paced, constantly escalating team-versus-team game that sees the destruction of vehicles and the death of squads of players. In addition to the singleplayer campaign, you will be able to play Battlefield 3 in co-op and use the new split-screen functionality to play with a friend.
Battlefield 3 has had its share of issues, ranging from server problems to a massive population overload and bad launch day quality control. Two maps (Halls of Justice and Airborne) do not seem to work, and the first few months seemed like there was some sort of population cap problem that hit servers harder than expected. Then, it seemed like DICE was testing new game mechanics and content (like double XP). Then there was the issue with the Wii version of the game being released only a week prior to the Xbox 360 and PS3 releases, and several days before the PC release. The Wii version has also had a rather buggy launcher and has been plagued by connection issues.
When one is faced with a massive, overrated game that is plagued by problems, you're going to be tempted to be skeptical. While Battlefield 3 does have its issues, it is a game that you can spend hours and hours with (especially if you can afford to own it three times over). If you are quick to pick up the controller and you like a good shooter, then you will have a lot to look forward to in Battlefield 3. If you are slow to pick up a controller and you like tactical shooters, then I would pass on Battlefield 3.
Games such as Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142, and Battlefield 2142 were designed to be campaign-based shooters, and Battlefield 3 attempts to be a return to the roots of the series, made popular by Battlefield 2. Like these games, the player controls individual classes of soldiers.
The game uses the Frostbite 2 game engine, with up to 60 individual models on-screen at once. It is powered by the in-house development engine, the Battlefield 3 engine, and has support for DirectX 11, Open GL 4.0 and Shader Model 5.0, which makes it one of the first games to use Shader Model 5.0 and Physically-based rendering.
With Call of Duty: Black Ops, DICE returns to the action shooter genre with the first game in the Call of Duty franchise and Black Ops is aiming to be the very best game in the series and will also have a single player mode and a campaign. Call of Duty: Black Ops features a storyline that will take the player to different parts of the world which are called Operations. There are 3 Operations and each one has its own missions that will culminate into the single player campaign. The story revolves around the Black Ops, a special forces team of specialists that will have to save the world from being destroyed by a bad guy known as the world's creator by locating the mother load of a super weapon.
