Flexing the freedom of being on Starz rather than network TV, Andre is seduced into explicit phone sex with Autumn, a sequence that goes on for quite some time, while Mercedes confronts her mother about her greed and demands the money she has taken back. P-Valley season 1, episode 2 ends with Clifford discovering a Lil Murda mixtape in her car, which suggests their transactional relationship is going to continue for a while at least.
With tensions high, the season 1 finale of P-Valley comes to a suitably dramatic and surprising finish. The fate of the Pynk is sealed and most of our characters receive a decent send-off. However, given this one has already been renewed for a second season, the show also leaves enough plot threads unresolved for the follow-up to tackle.
In P-Valley, every one of the employees has an intricate story that has ultimately led them to The Pynk. Following a diverse group of dancers (and Uncle Clifford, the club's fabulous owner) who all work at The Pynk, the popular club in Mississippi is a catalyst for occasional drama, emerging talent, and some downright shady activities. As viewers get more into the first episodes of season one, they further understand the extensive character backstory and development, feeling attached to each character through their perspective goals to get them out of Chucalissa.
Nearly two years after the first season was released via STARZ in 2020, fans have been in need of more P-Valley. As a result of numerous production delays due to COVID-19, filming for the series had officially wrapped back in 2021, with a return set for June 2022. As the returning cast members rejoin for the upcoming season, we're reflecting on season one's cliffhanger while further discussing what fans of the series can expect for season 2.
As her past is initially unknown to the other dancers, one of the veteran performers known as Mercedes isn't too fond of Hailey from the start. Mostly due to her being the new girl with no experience in the world of professional dancing, Mercedes feels as though Hailey is only getting by on her looks and warns her to steer clear from attempting to come between her and prospective customers (that makes her the most money). Although there is initially some tension between Hailey and Mercedes, making for great television, the two women become friends later in the first season. What would be interesting to see in the second season is if any controversial new girls will come to work at The Pynk, challenging the dancers who stand in their way of making the most money.
By the end of season one, viewers learn that Uncle Clifford and Hailey unexpectedly become partners of The Pynk nightclub. The two bumping heads somewhere down the road is bound to happen during season 2. Uncle Clifford has successfully run The Pynk on his own, despite the mounds of financial woes that got him to this point. Now, Hailey will run the day-to-day logistics, as she has significant experience managing finances, allowing Uncle Clifford to dedicate his time solely to the club's entertainment sector. With the two being strong personalities, their difference in opinions is bound to clash.
What's striking is the family atmosphere that Uncle Clifford creates during his management role at The Pynk. Although there are some instances where the women have direct conflicts with one another, Uncle Clifford is always there to reel the girls in, bringing them to a common ground. In season two, viewers should watch out for any new dancers who come into the club in a pursuit to shake the atmosphere up among the existing dancers. Although Hailey wasn't confrontational in season one, Mercedes didn't exactly welcome her with open arms. Additionally, the story angle of Hailey and Uncle Clifford working as co-owners of The Pynk sounds exciting due to their character differences. Uncle Clifford is fabulous and over the top compared to Hailey's more refined personality. What will happen when they don't see eye-to-eye
Season 1No. Episodes8NetworkStarzReleasedJuly 12, 2020ChronologySucceeded bySeason 2Season 1 is the first season of Starz's series P-Valley. It premiered on Starz on July 12, 2020[1], and will run for eight consecutive episodes.
On July 27, 2020 Starz announced it has greenlit a second season for its new breakout series \"P-Valley\" after setting a new record on the STARZ App for most viewed series premiere at 17% above the previous high.[2]
The electric first season of the Mississippi-set series ended with Hailey (Elarica Johnson) choosing to thank Mercedes (Brandee Evans) and Uncle Clifford (Nicco Annan), by using the money she stole from her abusive (possibly now dead) ex to save the PYNK from being bought out by the greedy casino developers who were after the waterfront property.
See below what Hall had to say about what happens now that the women of the PYNK have some power, which musicians have come out as fans of the show, and how the COVID-19 pandemic may factor into season 2.
In episode 7, a frustrated Gidget asks Autumn a question about Keyshawn, \"Why won't she just leave\" She poignantly replies, \"Because that's when they're most likely to kill you.\" It's a statistical fact for women who suffer from domestic abuse. In Hailey, we see a woman who tried to get rid of her abuser advise another woman suffering, all to no avail. In the season finale, to see Keyshawn impulsively protect her abuser is heartbreaking. Keyshawn pulling that pink gun on Diamond instead of Derrick is of course a highly dramatized version of that type of protection, but it's reflective of women who do everything from make excuses to lie to refuse to press charges to protect their abusers. While it's hard to see, it's real. There's a lot of factors that are at play when it comes to the cage that Keyshawn is trying to get out of, so in the season finale, she just ain't ready to unlock the cage even though the key is inside her. So I know that they're going to be mad at us because they want Diamond and Keyshawn to have their little kissy moment all season, but they're just going to have to ride with us until she's ready to unlock the door.
Next season will we be seeing a flashback to what actually happened when the gun went off in the Paradise Room Did Hailey finally shoot him dead Will we be seeing more of whoever the Delta Devoted are
If you see, in previous Paradise Room scenes, the men don't come out unscathed. I can only say that the secret of what went down in the Paradise Room will bond Uncle Clifford, Mercedes, and Hailey forever. It remains to be seen if the Delta Devoted will come looking for Montavius in season 2.
At the end of the season finale, the story ends where Hailey has the ultimate power. She came in getting her ass smacked on the dance floor and now, she has some ownership in the club. The power dynamics at the club have completely changed and to see Uncle Clifford and Hailey fight over the throne will be stuff of legends. Exciting! Also, the fact that Mercedes will still be fighting the big Goliath in her life that is respectability politics. Will she be able to get her dance studio and custody of her daughter Will she ever conquer her pimp-turned-pastor mother Only time will tell.
P-Valley is a crime, drama TV series from Starz. Season 1 which is set to premiere on the 12th of July will feature a collection of tracks from world-class performers. You can check out and listen to the complete list of credited songs as well as the season 1 soundtrack below.
Creator and showrunner Katori Hall had been sitting on the idea for P-Valley for some time. The pilot for the series was shot back in 2018 and it then took an additional two years before the first season debuted to fans. The Tina: The Tina Turner Musical scribe said she was inspired to write her play and eventually the series because of Cardi B.
Three-time Grammy Award-winner Megan Thee Stallion is joining the cast of STARZ's crime drama P-Valley for season 2. Her character, named for the artist's alter ego persona and second EP, Tina Snow, will appear later in the season.
Fans may have heard a familiar voice in Sunday's episode of P-Valley. The show teased Megan Thee Stallion's appearance in the second episode when DJ Neva Scared (Brandon Gilpin) turned down Lil' Murda's (J. Alphonse Nicholson) offer to join the Dirty Dozen. He tells him he's working with an artist in Atlanta, and viewers can hear a voice in the studio say, \"Run that beat back for a real b----.\" The first promo look for the character of Tina Snow has Megan Thee Stallion dripping with diamonds and cloaked in fur, looking every inch the Hot Girl maven. Earlier in season 1, P-Valley featured Megan's \"Hot Girl\" in a montage where Mercedes, played by Brandee Evans (B-Boy Blues), and Autumn Night (Elrica Johnson) pulled off a scam for fast money. For season 2, not only will fans get to see alter-ego Tina Snow in the flesh, but Megan wrote and recorded an original song to be featured later in the season.
P-Valley is an acclaimed drama based on the play by Pulitzer Prize-winner Katori Hall and stars Shannon Thornton (Inventing Anna), Nicco Annan (This is Us), Elarica Johnson (A Discovery of Witches), Parker Sawyer, and many others. The show has received praise from collaborators of the music industry for its \"authentic trap music and for being a platform to spotlight southern female rappers,\" and recently set a new record with STARZ for having the largest season over season growth.
The show takes place in the fictional town of Chucalissa, Mississippi and centers on strip club The Pynk, and in season two, the stakes are higher as Autumn (Johnson) and Uncle Clifford (Annan) struggle for the throne and new blood threatens the club's dynamic. 59ce067264
